HALOPACK is a tray formed with two materials (plastic and cardboard) which are easily separable and recyclable. No glues are added to the manufacturing process, ensuring the peelability and recyclability of the components. Plenty of  countries worldwide already have different waste streams and collection for the two materials, encouraging thus the recyclability of the overall content.

HALOPACK has been engineered to contain all types of foodstuffs¹. Whether you want to pack raw or cooked meals, HALOPACK offers solutions for a wide range of food products².

Additionally, HALOPACK is already in use for pet food.

HALOPACK trays are tailored to your needs, offering various options in terms of barrier properties: from high and medium barrier to non-barrier solutions. It all depends on what you require!

Thanks to its unique design, HALOPACK offers high-barrier options. This makes it a watertight and gastight container that helps extend the shelf life of daily fresh food. By modifying the atmosphere in the packaging, the optimal preservation conditions can be met, keeping products fresher for longer periods of time, and therefore reducing food waste.

HALOPACK can be sealed with an atmospheric sealing, gas flush, vacuum gas, skin, and deep skin. For the correct preservation of foodstuff, we use high-quality films that have been engineered to be as thin as possible.

HALOPACK uses different cardboard types depending on the intended use³.

The board can be made from both recycled and virgin materials. Presenting different finishes – craft liners for natural board looks or machine coated liners for glossy looks. Thanks to the barrier in the film, no contamination is transferred from the recycled materials or inks to the foodstuff, ensuring the quality and safety of the product is maintained.
In Europe we mainly use recycled grey board for most applications. For OVEN and CLAMSHELL, as well as for the US market, HALOPACK mainly uses virgin material.

All the inks and lacquering used on our HALOPACK are of Low Migration Quality (LMQ). We use water-based and UV inks specifically developed to be used with food contact materials. In addition, the film used in our HALOPACK contains a barrier ensuring that the food stuff is never in direct contact with ink and lacquering⁴.

Recyclability is unaffected by inks and lacquering, which behave like standard paper printing.

No, but that is not a bad thing. Food conservation is a very important aspect that reduces food waste.
By manufacturing a packaging with high-barrier properties, HALOPACK extends the shelf life of the foodstuff allowing to distribute it around the world preserving the food fresh, safe, and healthy.
Although the actual trend is to switch to bioplastics, most consumers do not know yet how to dispose them correctly, causing problems on the overall recycling processes. For this reason, HALOPACK chooses to keep using conventional plastic. Always aiming to reduce the content, so that the impact on the environment is minimal, while preserving the taste, odor and other characteristics of the foodstuff contained in the packaging.

HALOPACK selects cardboard together with its customers to find the best fit for purpose.
A special cardboard can be selected that can resist higher amounts of humidity. Also, the cardboard can be coated during the offset printing process with a lacquering that provides extra water resistance.

Yes. HALOPACK is compliant with any long-term storage at room temperature or below, including deep and/or shock freezing, typically -18°C (+/- 3°C). Customers can use it for different applications, such as frozen fruits, vegetables, fish, meat products, and ready meals.

Yes. HALOPACK can be used in the microwave as we specify compliance with OM5 tests for heating and reheating 2h at 100°C or at reflux or alternatively 1h at 121°C.

Yes. Our OVEN trays use a special film that can handle a higher heat resistance. Although seen as a different product with different specifications, HALOPACK OVEN still is considered a MAP pack and can handle OM7 testing values for heating and reheating up to 1h at 220°C. Results may vary from different food compositions and need to be validated together with our clients.

Yes. HALOPACK is produced on machinery that can interchange the toolset for your needs. You can enquire our sales team on the existing sizes. Special sized and height adjustments are easily engineered and implemented. Mould costs vary between 60.000-100.000 € depending on the number of impressions. Tray depth conversions can be made available too.

Yes. HALOPACK can be printed with off-set quality imaging, maximizing marketing value by having full colour, double-sided printing options. A true eyecatcher.
